Discrença - Os 4 Cavaleiros Do Apocalipse - Self produced Cdr demo - 2005I went to that small convenience store to buy a pack of cigarettes when i bumped into a Brazilian punk, the guy was looking really ugly with his shredded clothes and his 12 inches mohawk.
He insisted to give me some crappy Cdrs wrapped in plastic, took the Cds and said thanks.
I was expecting to hear poorly recorded and terribly bad music.
One of these Cds in particular grabbed my attention, the drawing on the cover was quite hilarious. As it's been said to not judge a book on it's cover, i listened to the Discrença demo and it went to be a positive surprise, the sound quality is okay, all in all, it's the typical rough Hard Core Punk from Brazil, similar to bands like Armagedom or Lobotomia.
Like the structure of the Brazilian society, social inequality is also present within the DIY punk scene, with bands playing on shitty 50w Meteoro amplifiers, releasing Cdrs with cheap xeroxed covers, trading hand made stickers and painted t-shirts for small change, all this unseen subterranean activity represents the backbone of the Brazilian punk community.
