Mug - Corsica Egg - double10''vinyl
Le Dernier Cri / Pandemonium records - PAN 38 - 2000

Six years after their first vinyl output, the double 7inch "Dead men don't Rape / Catatonic Workout", Mug were back for more. Songs were written and recorded within 18 days in 1997, mixed in 3 days in 1998 and the vinyl released in March 2000. The whole album is more complex and much more developped, it displays more variety and sound textures. It's still that jazzy, quirky weird angular experimental punk in the lines of Badgewearer, Dawson or Stretchheads. Their approach defies classifications and musical trends and still sound fresh nowadays.
If you got the chance to score a copy of this record don't hesitate as this double 10 inch is wrapped in a beautiful gatefold cover including a thick silkscreened 24 page booklet by P. Bolino / Le Dernier Cri, making this record a nice piece of art.   I only included 17 tracks among the 26 songs of this album, sticking mostly to the more "classic" guitar/bass/drums thing, the remaining stuff being mostly tape collage, sample manipulation, toys instruments & cheap electronic beats, if you feel cheated, you can have access to the complete uncut recording here.
