Eat Yourself / OVOROF
Marmelade Accident / Never Say Alligator split tape 1989

This old tape collects the last recordings from those twin south-eastern french bands who were active in the area between 1986 to 89~90. Eat Yourself songs are coming from a studio session, but it seems they entered the wrong studio, where the sound was so polished and clean it removed all the punch and energy their music is supposed to have, the triggered drums sounded like some drum machine at some point... This session was planned to end up as a split 12'' with some U.S. band but the plan didn't materialized. The old demo songs recorded on a dirty 4-track used to fill their side of the tape does more justice to their abrasive provincial thrash-core.
OVOROF side is taken from a live soundboard recording, clean and clear enough to be enjoyable. Too bad they never made it to the studio. OVOROF songs are more tight and focused, melodic H/C with some fast parts thrown in, reminiscing the Hard-Ons at times, they used to sing in fake phonetic language called "yogurt english". Note that these two bands had their own absurd, surreal universe, with lots of inside jokes and tongue in cheek humor...
17 Eat Yourself songs, 12 OVOROF Tunes, including the xeroxed insert:
