Got recently lots of hate mail and eventually death threats from some people urging me to stop posting Japanese punk bands, not for copyright infringement issues, but according to them, i'm not qualified to speak about those bands because i don't know the members personnally and haven't been around back then in 1987... those people told me they had ties with the mob and the yakuza, so i should consider their warning seriously.
I took notice, from now on, this blog will only focus on obscure demos from French bands...
This is the very first recording from Condense, a band that had a major impact on the local H/C scene during the 90s. Their sound was very influenced by classic American hardcore at their beginning, they later evolved to more personal, not to say experimental sound. While most French bands were imitating, Condense were a league of their own...
This 5 track demo is their very first recording from 1991.
The song "Thru the light" was featured on this Panx seven inch sampler.
I might post more stuff from this band later on.
A short band bio taken from their Meatspace.
Condense is a major group from the French punk/hardcore scene of the 90’s. Formed in 1990, with a permanent lineup finalized in 1992, Condense rocked the concert halls of France and Europe until 1997. Condense was a scenery-chewing band, reputed for the huge sound and emotion of their shows. They recorded 3 albums with Pandemonium Records, a label which was created just to record them. The evolution of the band was closely linked to that of the label, musically and personally, and together they wrote an important chapter in the story of independent French music. Condense was an independent group in every sense of the word, refusing all compromise financially. They maintained total control over their management, musical creation, and graphic images. This group, respected for their ethics and their integrity, continues to be listened to today and to influence other groups despite their early 1997 split. This rather rare fact is why Condense is still a must-listen-to band.
